Customer Artwork Guidelines
ACCEPTABLE FONTS
Please provide all fonts used. Printer and Screen fonts must be supplied.

ACCEPTABLE MEDIA
DVD, CD, Zip 100 Disks, or after placing your order, you can e-mail your artwork to: art@ssapgh.com

PROOF REQUIREMENTS
ONE COLOR OR SPOT COLOR PROOFS
After an order is placed, we will provide a proof via e-mail, fax, delivery or mail. After signing our proof approval form, the job will be put into production.

PROCESS COLOR PROOFS
After we receive your process color order, we will provide you a digital color proof simulating the color reproduction of our press.
Turnaround will begin upon proof approval.

Note: If an exact color match is required, press proofs are available for an additional cost and scheduling is required.

FILE CREATION - PROCESS COLOR ONLY
All spot colors should be converted to process colors before saving file (unless additional spot colors have been purchased). Also, please provide documentation or original PMS spot colors used in the file before converting to CMYK. Please provide artwork that extends at least 1/8” beyond the die-line on each side that bleeds.

SCREENS
Screens are normally run at 133 lines per inch for spot color or grayscale. For process color art screens are run at 175 line per inch. The resolution of scanned artwork should be double the screen. For spot or grayscale, scanned images should have a minimum resolution of 266 dpi and color scanned images should have a minimum of 350 dpi. All line art should be scanned at a minimum resolution of 600 dpi.

SPOT COLORS - PROCESS COLOR ONLY
If your artwork involves spot colors (in addition to process colors), you will uncur an additional charge.

SENDING ARTWORK
Artwork may be sent on disk or e-mailed (smaller files only) to art@ssapgh.com.
Preferred File Formats
Artwork may be submitted form any of the following Mac or PC applications:

  • Adobe Acrobat (PDF Files): Distill your file as a PDF with the following specs. Job Options - “Print”; Fonts - “Embed all fonts”; Color - “Color management turned off”. Printer resolution: 2400 dpi.

    Note: Do not embed raster images with your vector artwork into your PDF file. Please submit all raster files in the original program they were created with.

  • Adobe Illustrator: Please provide links and all supporting graphics; do not embed images; convert ALL text to outlines.

  • Adobe InDesign: Supply all linked files and convert all text to outlines.

  • Adobe Photoshop: Please send all files in CMYK, not RGB. All files should be saved at the following screen resolutions:
    CMYK - minimum of 350 dpi
    Grayscale - minimum of 266 dpi
    Raster files - minimum of 350 ppi
    Line art files - minimum of 600 ppi

  • QuarkXPress: Supply all supporting files and fonts used in the document.

  • Freehand: Please provide links and all supporting graphics; do not embed images.

We also support:

  • Microsoft: Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint

  • CorelDraw: Text must be converted to curves, include all images and export as an EPS file.

Turnaround begins upon proof approval.

For applications not listed above, please provide an EPS or PDF file (350 dpi minimum resolution) of the document along with the original file.

Additional charges may apply if the above guidelines are not followed. If additional charges apply, you will be notified.


Locating Font files on your computer

On PC/Windows Computers:
C:\Windows\Fonts
On Macintosh Computers Running Mac OSX: ~/Library/Fonts or ~/Users/username/Library/Fonts
On Macintosh Computers Running Mac OS 9 or lower:
~/System Folder/Fonts

Upload your files via FTP:

FTP Server: ssapgh.com
Username: ssaftp (all lowercase)
Password: upload (all lowercase)

After connecting to our FTP Server, upload your files inside the "Inbox" folder.

If you have several files, please create your own folder inside the "Inbox" folder.

For best results, compress your files into an Archive, such as a .zip, .sit, .rar etc.
We can decompress the following archives:
.zip, .sit, .sitx, .hqx, .bin, .tar, .gz, .rar


We can accept files on the following media:

CD-ROM
DVD-ROM
3.5 Floppy Disk
Zip Disks
(100MB only)
